November 2026 Gathering – Zen Doodling with Ash Salazar

Settle in for an evening of zen doodling, a calm, hands-on way to make art without worrying about whether it comes out “good.” Ash Salazar will lead the group through building a drawing out of simple, repeating lines, the slow and steady kind of pen work that quiets the mind and lets a busy brain turn to soup.

No drawing experience is needed. You will leave with a finished piece of your own.

Ash will also walk us through some simple techniques to add a sense of movement to your doodles by using a limited monochromatic color palette and contrasting textures.

You are welcome to bring your own drawing paper, markers, and pens. If you would rather bring just yourself, we will have supplies available at the gathering.

Registration is required and closes November 7th @ 11:59pm. A suggested donation of $10 or more, which you can add at registration or by check made out to Coast Range Association (our fiscal sponsor), helps us cover materials. However, no one is turned away due to lack of funds – ever.

Ash Salazar is an all-around artist, cook, baker, and amazing barista who came to the Oregon Coast from Portland. The coast has felt more like home than the big city ever did. Ash brings a creative, hands-on touch to everything, from the kitchen and the oven to the espresso bar and the drawing table.
